Family Devotional Guide – March 7
Travis Walker   -

One thing that we probably have all experienced in our life is when a relationship or friendship breaks. It might have been a close friend or maybe even a family member. I am sure you have experienced a time when someone you were very close to became someone you had a conflict with. Do you remember how that felt? I do; it hurt. Would you agree?

Our sermon’s text this week (Ephesians 2:11-18) focuses on two keywords: hostility and peace. Take a moment before you continue to read and define these two words. If you want to, look these two words up in a dictionary.

What is hostility?
What is peace?

These two words brilliantly summarize the story of the Bible and the story of our own spiritual lives. At one time, we were separated (hostility) from God, and now because of Christ, we have union (peace) with God. I, for one, don’t appreciate that good news enough. Do you?

As a family, couple, or as friends, discuss the questions below to appreciate again what Christ did for you on the cross to restore your relationship with the Father.

Discussion Questions:

  1. If it weren’t for Christ’s death on the cross, what would our relationship with God the Father be like? What would our eternal destination be?
  2. What did Christ do for us that restored our relationship with the Father? Why did it require the action He took? Why the cross? Why death?
  3. What is true now of our relationship with God the Father? What kind of access do we have to Him now?
Finish your time today with prayer. Thank Jesus for His death on the cross, in your place!
