Family Devotional Guide – April 4
Travis Walker   -

Rarely do we talk about death. Unless someone passes away or someone we know is near death, the topic of death, at least in my household, rarely comes up. Is your household the same? Death isn’t a fun conversation to discuss. But, death is not a topic we can ignore because 100% of people die! As much as we don’t want to think about it, you and I will one day die, and because of that reality, we must talk about it.

Thankfully, it is impossible not to discuss the topic of death during the weekend of Good Friday and Easter. This whole weekend revolves around the story of Christ’s death. As odd as it may sound, I hope your family discussed death this weekend, and I hope you continue to talk about death this upcoming week.

Think about it, the story of what happened 2000 years ago on the days we now celebrate as Good Friday and Easter changed everything about how we talk about death. Those who believe the Good News of the Gospel no longer does death have to be a sore topic. Instead, it’s a topic we can boldly face because the sting of death is gone.

As a family, couple, or as friends, I would love for you to discuss the questions below to again appreciate what Christ did for you on the cross to free you from the curse of sin and death.

 Family Discussion Questions:

  1. What do we celebrate on Good Friday and Easter?
  2. What did Christ’s death and resurrection accomplish?
  3. What will happen to those who believe in Christ after they die?
  4. What will happen to those who do not believe in Christ after they die?
  5. For those of us who are Christians, how should we now view death?
