What is Community Welcome?
Community Welcome is our initiative to reach out to people new to the area with a simple welcome gift and an invitation. This is a tremendous opportunity to continue our mission of reaching those within our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ! Check out the simple video below for an example of what dropping off a gift could look like:

Below is a basic script for your visit. We suggest keeping it short and sweet with a smile unless they extend the conversation—in which case, of course keep talking!
You: Hi, my name is _____ and we’re from First Family Church, and we drop off little welcome gifts to people that have moved to town recently. I’m assuming you’re new to your home or to this area?
Them: Yes, we just moved from Illinois a few months ago.
Us: Awesome, how are you liking it so far?
Them: It’s been great so far!
Us: Well, enjoy the gift, we’d love to have you come for a service some Sunday! It was nice to meet you, have a great day.
Don’t worry, nerves are very natural when sharing your faith with strangers. Know that God will give you the strength and the words to speak! Don’t feel that you have to “save” them on this visit; we are merely his ambassadors and seed planters.
“And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:1–2)
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building” (1 Corinthians 3:6–9)
If they do not answer and you are unable to return at a later time, please leave the gift on the doorstep.
Simply put, because Christ has commanded us!
“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God” (Luke 12:8)
You never know what God might do with a simple invitation.
Yes, if your neighbor is available, you can certainly “hand pick” their address. For your next door or immediate neighbors, feel free to further personalize the gift with baked goods, etc.
