Stand and See | Resources
Intro
With the Egyptian army approaching and the Red Sea blocking their path, Israel finds themselves trapped. Fear spreads quickly among the people, but Moses calls them to trust the Lord: “Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord.”
God miraculously parts the sea, allowing Israel to pass through safely while the Egyptian army is destroyed. God proves that salvation belongs entirely to Him.
Quote
“God often brings His people into impossible situations so that His power may be clearly displayed.” – Timothy Keller
Discussion/Reflection Questions
1. When the Israelites saw the Egyptian army approaching, they immediately panicked. Why do you think fear so easily overwhelms us when we face difficult circumstances?
2. Moses told the people to “stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord.” What does it look like to trust God when you cannot yet see how He will work?
3. Can you think of a time when God made a way in your life when there seemed to be no way forward?
4. Why is it often easier to complain or panic rather than trust God in challenging situations?
5. How can remembering God’s past faithfulness strengthen your trust in Him today?

Gospel Connection
Israel could not save themselves at the Red Sea. Their deliverance came entirely from God’s intervention. In the same way, the gospel teaches that salvation is not something we achieve but something God accomplishes for us through Christ. Just as Israel walked through the sea in safety, believers pass from death to life because Jesus has defeated our enemies.
Response
Pray: Pray for trust in situations where you feel trapped or powerless.
Do: Identify a current situation where you need to “stand and see” what God will do instead of trying to control everything yourself.
