Meeting God at the Mountain (Part 1) | Resources
Intro
At Mount Sinai, God calls Israel into a covenant relationship and declares His desire for them to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
As thunder, smoke, and fire surround the mountain, the people begin to grasp both the greatness of God’s holiness and the seriousness of drawing near to Him. The scene creates anticipation for a deeper encounter with the God who rescued them from Egypt.
Quote
“The fear of God is the soul of godliness.” R.C. Sproul

Gospel Connection
God’s holiness creates distance, but Jesus bridges that gap. Through Christ, we are invited into God’s presence not in fear of judgment, but in confidence. At Mount Sinai, the people had to remain at a distance because of sin, but through the cross, the barrier separating us from God has been removed. Jesus fulfills what Sinai could only foreshadow—a way for sinful people to draw near to a holy God.
Response
Pray: Holy God, give me a deeper reverence for who You are, and help me approach You with awe, humility, and worship.
Do: Set aside intentional time this week to prepare your heart before prayer or worship.
